Asiabite Mobile App

Asian snack box company branding and mobile shopping app project, that involved conducting branding, UX research, creating a comprehensive design system, wireframing, and prototyping.

Overview

While the awareness and popularity of Asian snacks are on the rise in North America, the rapid access to the most popular snacks directly from Asia is not yet commonplace. This project was born from the desire of snack lovers, especially those fond of Asian snacks, to conveniently shop for popular snacks from Asia anytime, anywhere.

What were users' needs?

Conducted interviews with 10 individuals using Google Forms, identifying three passionate Asian snack enthusiasts among them. Subsequently, conducted more in-depth interviews with these enthusiasts. Through these interviews, gained insights into pain points, needs, and information about competitors. Then synthesized this information into personas.

Identified the needs of representative users through personas.

〰️ Firstly, sought direct access to trendy Asian snacks for purchase while also desiring to share these items with friends, family, or colleagues.

〰️ Secondly, some expressed a desire for alternatives to local Asian stores, where availability was uncertain, and online stores, which lacked accessibility.

What was found from competitors?

These findings narrowed research focus and enabled a study of existing online store competitors. Researched existing competitors to pinpoint specific user pain points and identify precisely where their needs were not being met.

Key takeaways from researching competitors were:

1

There is a demand for easily accessible and reliable information on new snacks, catering to both new explorers and seasoned enthusiasts of Asian snacks.

2

There is a need for a platform specializing in selling snacks from various Asian countries. This platform should offer an easier, faster, and more convenient way to explore and order trendy Asian snacks compared to online alternatives.

So, here are ideations!

Why Asiabite?

Asiabite offers a novel snack box comprising the most popular and trendy Asian snacks from every corner of Asia, previously unavailable elsewhere.

How does Asiabite stand out?

The design of Asiabite, imbued with bold and vibrant energy, stems from the desire to resonate with and evoke the joyful emotions of snack lovers who enjoy exploring various Asian snacks.

Building upon this design system, packaging designs for snack boxes and accompanying snack introduction postcards were created. These snack introduction postcards are not only featured on the shopping platform but also provided as printed cards, allowing customers to easily and intuitively access information about the snacks and share them as gifts or referrals with friends and family. This supports addressing one of the needs identified among users.

Why was Asiabite designed as a mobile app?

The decision to make Asiabite an app platform stemmed from the need to alleviate the inconvenience of users having to access a web browser every time they start snack shopping, proceed with ordering and payment, and track delivery status. It aimed to meet the need for easy and fast shopping through the app.
